ORNAMENTATION IN CELTIC MUSIC

Saturday, September 17th 11:30am-12:30pm $10 | Jesse Partridge

This workshop will introduce both fingered and bowed ornaments: flicks, rolls, cuts, slides, and turns. Geared primarily toward bowed instruments, although other melody players are welcome. Particular attention will be payed to how the use of these ornaments differs in different styles of Celtic music, with examples given. We'll learn a few tunes by ear to try out the ornaments in context, so bring a recording device if you wish. Recommended for intermediate to advanced players. Taught by Jesse Partridge in conjunction with the Bellingham Irish Festival. www.bellinghamirishfestival.com
